New Delhi: Trouble is looming for the BJP government in Delhi as the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday alleged irregularities worth ₹650 crore in the health department. The party alleged that irregularities were found in decisions taken by the BJP government regarding the procurement of various items for the health department.
Delhi AAP chief Saurabh Bharadwaj alleged that former Director General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Vandana Bagga had flagged irregularities in an outsourced laboratory testing tender in 2025 and was later suspended after refusing to approve it.
At a press conference, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh questioned the BJP government's handling of the alleged scam and sought the resignation of the chief minister Rekha Gupta and the health minister Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh.
Singh alleged irregularities in the procurement of bedsheets, portable X-ray machines, ORS packets and medicines, claiming these resulted in losses worth around ₹650 crore.
He also questioned the absence of action by central investigative agencies in the matter.
Bharadwaj claimed that Dr Rati Makkar, who succeeded Bagga as DGHS, also declined to clear certain tenders and opted for voluntary retirement.
Bharadwaj alleged that after Dr Vatsala Aggarwal took charge as DGHS, the alleged ₹650-crore health scam came to light.
In a separate post on X, Bharadwaj also alleged that the Delhi government had filed a false affidavit before the court regarding the functioning of the Next-Gen Hospital ICU App. He further claimed that emergency numbers promoted by the government were found to be non-functional during court proceedings.
The BJP government has not responded to the allegations made by the AAP.
